Happy Halloween (only a month late)

This year Halloween was quite eventful.  My bow business was in full swing this year and I was very busy over the Halloween holiday.  However, what made the holiday so eventful was that Halloween fell on Sunday this year.  That made for a 3 day Halloween weekend, every child's dream.  So we had 3 days of candy, candy, and more candy.  I can say that most of that candy is still in a bucket hiding.

This year Ashlynn decided she wanted to be a Hallerina (Ballerina)  and she wanted a pink bouncy skirt (tutu) and slippers (ballet shoes).  So her request prompted me to learn how to make the tutu since I so badly wanted to make at least 1 Halloween costume this year.  I toyed with the idea of making Everett's but I found a $10 pumpkin costume!!!  The Halloween weekend started with taking the kids to downtown Clayton for a trick or treat at the stores on Main street. On Saturday we went to our church for fall festival and then on to Ashlynn and Everett's 1st real trick or treat in Kenly.  On Sunday we went to my sister's boyfriends church for a trunk or treat. Overall, I would say that Ashy and Ev man had a very successful weekend!!!

Silly Blog

Seems like the blog is give me a bit of trouble.  I will resume project catch-up tomorrow!!!

Big Girl Bedroom

Ashlynn is growing up so very fast. I can't believe that in 2011 I will have a 4 year old.  We decided a few weeks ago that our little lady was ready for a big girl bed.  So in our quest to bring in the fall clothes and switch out the summer clothes we also brought in Ashlynn's big girl furniture.  Don and I rearranged the furniture, switched out her clothes, and put up her big girl bed.  Ashlynn was so excited and could not wait to get in her room a play.  Since putting in her bed we have had a lot less trouble getting her to go to bed.  She still has her nights that she wants to sleep in mommy's bed ;)   I am not sure if her excitement is the new bed or the pretty Disney princess set she has now.  Ashlynn loves those princesses.

The State Fair

I have always said I love the Holiday season.  For me the season starts in September and runs through New Years day!  I love this time of year.  The leaves changing, ECU FOOTBALL, the State fair, Hayrides and pumpkin picking, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas decorating, Meadow and Tanglewood Christmas lights, Christmas parties, Hot chocolate, eggnog, and Christmas cookies, Christmas eve and day, SNOW, sweaters, and New years eve.  Most of all we LOVE the family time.  There will be a lot of posts in the coming weeks as we are very busy and love this time of year!

Now the STATE FAIR.  To say I love the state fair could be an understatement.  I love EVERYTHING (well maybe not the crowds) about the fair.  The rides, the different booths and attractions, and of course the FOOD!  I have passed on my love for the fair to Don (who is from Winston Salem and had never been to the state fair until we started dating over 8 yrs ago.  Now he cannot wait for the fair to come to town.  Now Ashlynn has the same love and excitement for the fair.  This was Ashlynn's 4th fair but the 1st she really got into. Ashlynn (much like her mother) had to experience everything.  She loved the rides and being bigger this year meant she could ride a lot more things.

Then we went on to the buildings full of booths, animals, and produce.  Our favorites being the Mt. olive pickles, the GOP booth, the American Music Jubilee booth, the Maple cotton candy booth, The right to life booth, and the House of Autry booth.  Then its on to see the wining craft projects such as the cross stitching, Clothing, cakes, etc.  The cakes were Ashlynn's favorite to look at. Then we visit all the animals and did a quick run through of the winning produce. She was amazed by the really big pumpkin! Then it was onto sampling the food (Ash was not a fan) however, this was Everett's favorite part.  Our favorites are the roasted corn, tempura veggies, and the kettle corn.  There is other things we try bites of here or there, but those 3 were the biggest hits!!!  Everett really could have cared less about the rest of the fair except for the food and the animals.  He could only ride 2 rides so he wasn't very interested in that aspect of the fair.  I cannot wait for the coming years when they both can fully enjoy the fair.
